The transmission being
tested is driven by a 15HP motor controlled by a variable speed vector
drive. The motor is mounted in a cage supported by aircraft roller
bearings. A strain gauge measures the torque reaction on the motor cage. |
| This allows us to measure the actual
torque needed to spin the transmission. By using a digital tachometer
we can calculate the actual HP required at any given RPM. |
